History
In 1989, a small group of entrepreneurs decided to establish a new community bank in Lycoming County. Many of the existing banks had merged and had grown to a size where personalized service had become only a slogan. These entrepreneurs saw, firsthand, the deteriorating service level of many of the banks in the area.
After raising more than $4 million in capital, the new bank opened in October of 1990. The name Woodlands Bank was chosen to reflect the lumber heritage of the area. The name did not have the geographic limitations of other alternatives that reflected names of municipalities, counties, or bodies of water.
After opening with one location in Loyalsock Township and a staff of ten, the bank has grown to six locations and a staff of over 90. While the bank has had substantial growth over its brief history, it remains small enough to respond to its customers with exceptional service. This is the essence of Woodlands Bank and the reason it was created. We truly believe that we are easy to do business with.
